Community Health Programs

TWIN CITIES HEALTHY START

Twin Cities Healthy Start is a community-based project that can help you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy family.

Too many babies die before they are born or before their first birthday. This is a special concern in the African American and American Indian communities. Together we can take steps to prevent this from happening. Open Cities Health Centers recently received a grant from Twin Cities Healthy Start to participate in their program. OCHC has a nurse educator, community health worker and health care providers to help you, your baby and your family.

Benefits and services OCHC offers include:

  • Nutrition and health education
  • Referral to help with drug and alcohol problems
  • Help with decisions about your future
  • Educational opportunities
  • Job readiness skills
  • Family planning referrals
  • Stress reduction techniques
  • Help with domestic violence issues
  • An opportunity to participate with a group to help make the project effective
